Sebastian teams up with Mick Schumacher for 2022 Race of Champions

Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher

Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team driver Sebastian Vettel will return to the Race of Champions in 2022, partnering Haas driver Mick Schumacher for Team Germany.

The German F1 duo will participate in ROC Snow + Ice WORLD FINAL hosted by Pite Havsbad, Sweden, on February 4th-6th 2022.

A unique winner-takes-all format that pits competitors against drivers from other racing series, ROC attracts some of the most successful racers from across global motorsport.

From Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen to World Rally Championship star Sebastien Loeb, NASCAR's Jimmy Johnson and IndyCar's Josef Newgarden, ROC attracts the world's top racing talent.

Sebastian's latest appearance in the series will be his 10th ROC entry, having previously partnered Mick's father Michael Schumacher for an incredible run of six ROC titles between 2007-2012.

The Schumacher connection reignited in 2019 when Sebastian partnered with Mick for the first time, finishing second for Team Germany in the ROC Nations Cup in Mexico.

Sebastian's ROC pedigree also extends to a Champion of Champions crown in 2015.

World Final on Snow & Ice

Some of the most iconic names in world motorsport will take on a unique racetrack set on the frozen Baltic sea, combining elements of Race of Champions' outdoor roots and its more recent stadium spectacles. The event will also focus on sustainability, including a suite of electric cars and a goal to become carbon-neutral.

This year's ROC event is a departure from the previous 15 formats, moving away from a stadium-based event to a fast and unpredictable course set on a frozen ocean.

It's at this venue that Sebastian and Mick will team up in a suite of cars, including electric and 100% fossil fuel-free biofuel engines.

"I'm really looking forward to being back competing in the Race Of Champions again, and to represent Germany together with Mick," said Sebastian.

"At ROC Mexico [in 2019], we came second in the ROC Nations Cup, so our aim is to do one better in Sweden.

"The competition will be very strong, especially from the Nordic drivers who have a lot more experience than us driving on snow and ice.'

"It’s very nice to see the many new sustainability initiatives that the Race Of Champions are implementing, as they aim to become a climate positive event over the coming years."

Drivers already confirmed for the 2022 ROC include two-time F1 champion Mikka Häkkinen, World Rally and World Rallycross Champion Petter Solberg and current F1 driver Valtteri Bottas.
