Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team driver Sebastian Vettel has unveiled a special edition helmet for the Turkish Grand Prix weekend to raise awareness around water pollution.
In modern-day Formula One, helmets have become more than simply a protective device. They are a platform for self-expression and, in the cockpit, become part of a driver's identity.
Some designs stand the test of time, remaining constant across multiple seasons, while others appear briefly to deliver a message. Some even succeed in doing both.
As Formula One returns to Istanbul Park this weekend, Sebastian does so with a new helmet design bearing an important message, as he raises awareness around global water pollution.
Water equals life: Sebastian's Turkish Grand Prix helmet
Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team driver Sebastian Vettel has unveiled a special edition helmet for the Turkish Grand Prix weekend to raise awareness around water pollution.
"This year, Turkey has faced ecological disaster, with algae in the oceans killing so much wildlife and we need to raise awareness to help our oceans," said Sebastian. "Oceans are, ultimately, the origin of all life and cover more than two-thirds of the globe.
"This weekend, you will see that my helmet is a little bit different. It carries a small message: 'water equals life'. We should try to do everything that we can to avoid dumping waste into our oceans.
"Whether it's millions of tonnes of plastic per year or other toxic things, this helmet has been designed to raise awareness and highlight that we should take care of our oceans."
Thanks to Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team's Sebastian Vettel for raising awareness around water pollution globally: #IAMFORCHANGE.
