#IAMSTORIES: Marem, Bahrain

Marem

As the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team prepares for this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix, we wanted to shine a spotlight on our passionate local fans in a new series.

For Marem, the Bahrain Grand Prix is a chance to follow her favourite team and driver compete in her home race. In her own words, Marem gives an insight into supporting Formula One in Bahrain.

Everyone is so excited for the Bahrain Grand Prix, whether they’re at the track or watching at home. There’s a real passionate fanbase in my country for Formula One and the fact that we host one of the few night races on the calendar just raises the excitement even further.

It was an amazing feeling when Bahrain first hosted a Grand Prix (in 2004) and I’m really excited to attend the race for the first time. I was supposed to go last year, until COVID prevented it, but I hope to go in the near future and get up close to Formula One and the drivers.

There’s been so many historic moments at the Bahrain Grand Prix too. Sebastian is my favourite driver, so seeing him win the 2017 Grand Prix and then come back and win it again in 2018 was one of my best moments following Formula One.

We’re lucky to have such a challenging circuit too, my favourite corner at the track is the one named after Michael Schumacher (Turn One) which provides a lot of exciting moments and overtakes.

The Bahrain International Circuit also gave me my favourite memory of Team Silverstone too, when Sergio Perez won last year’s Sakhir Grand Prix.

For me, it was a great decision by Aston Martin to return to Formula One and bring such a famous name back to the sport and I became a fan from the moment the team arrived.

You cannot imagine how excited I was to learn that Sebastian was going to drive for the team. I’m a big fan for life – welcome back to Formula One!

Formula One is a big part of my life, and my love for it really took off in 2017. I saw a lot of different posts about how Formula One cars are made and learned a lot about the drivers who made them reach such incredible speeds.

I also started to watch lots of races and I was lucky enough once to get a short video from Sebastian saying my name!

All of this has now led me to my chosen path of studying mechanical engineering. I’m now in my last semester and have a huge passion for my degree and motorsport. I can’t wait to one day attend the Bahrain Grand Prix.
