Volunteers from Citigroup joined members of the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One® Team (AMF1 Team) to support Towcester Foodbank by creating charity packs for the local community at the AMR Technology Campus.
We're passionate about driving change and making a difference through our Make A Mark ESG programme in the communities where we work and race. At our state-of-the-art new Technology Campus, we hosted the Citigroup Volunteering Day, where Citigroup volunteers and members of AMF1 Team joined forces to make a mark by putting emergency packs together to help people in crisis in the local community, supporting the excellent work of Towcester Foodbank.
More than 50 people took part in three activities to help the charity that is supported by The Trussell Trust, which works UK-wide to combat hunger and poverty.
The Trussell Trust, which operates Towcester Foodbank, operates 425 food banks across the UK. Last year, the charity gave three-day emergency food supplies to more than 130,000 people in the UK – nearly half of whom were children.
As we near the end of the year, we near the busiest month for foodbanks. December sees a massive spike in people using the foodbank with winter proving much harder for people living in poverty; people end up having to choose between eating and heating their home.
Volunteers at the AMRTC came together to assemble a variety of charity packs. The first activity saw volunteers assemble emergency packs for people in temporary accommodation, including food, drinks, sanitary products and more essential items.
For people who cannot afford basic cleaning products for themselves and their homes, volunteers assembled cleaning packs including wipes, sprays and other essentials.
Finally, to help people in need prepare for the holiday season, volunteers assembled holiday season and Festive packs that included wrapping paper, tree decorations, sweets and colouring books.
No one in our community should face hunger or poverty; we continue to strive to Make A Mark wherever we race, work, and live, and hosting the Citigroup Volunteering Day was another example of how we're making a mark in the community. Earlier in the year, we used the launch of our 2023 F1 challenger as an opportunity to inspire young minds; we brought STEM careers to life for students in cities such as Melbourne and Montréal, and recently hosted International Women in Engineering Day and Make A Mark Day events.
