11 TikToks you will sacrifice sleep for from the São Paulo GP

Aston Martin F1

The highs and lows of Formula One were evident in São Paulo – and even more exciting through the lens of TikTok. Here's our roundup of TikToks from last weekend in Brazil and beyond.

Sometimes F1 knocks you down; other times it lifts you up. A tough Saturday in São Paulo is the former; our best points haul since April in Sunday's São Paulo Grand Prix is the latter – and what a way to do it.

Fernando's suspenseful final scene, battling back to the podium when the script said otherwise, to retake the position on the last lap – crossing the line with an advantage of five-hundredths of a second – is the stuff of legend.

Our trip to Interlagos had it all. We had the storm of storms on Friday, a tough Sprint day on Saturday, and drama from lights (and then more lights) to flag for the race… but TikTok, as always, provides the deeper cuts of Aston Martin's week.

1 | Drag race

This is just about as tight as it gets. After a long, forthright defence, Fernando lost P3 two laps from home – but Fernando isn’t one to give up. He gloriously swept back into the podium position in the Decsida do Lago (Turn Four) on the final lap and held on by the narrowest of margins at the line.

The garage goes wild. Mikey Brown, Fernando’s No.1 mechanic looks like he’s won the lottery. In the cockpit, you imagine Fernando’s allowing himself a fleeting half-smile. This is how we roll.

2 | 0.053s

What does fifty-three thousands of a second actually look like?

Across the start-finish line, at 322km/h, it looks like this. After 305.879km of racing, the gap is approximately half a front wing endplate.

3 | The photo

It's been a little while since we had one of these...

Trophy eight of a remarkable season comes at the end of a very tough, very long, intercontinental flyway – but even if we were flat-out with pack-up, we'd still have taken five minutes off for the team photo.

Because it's moments like this that really make a season.

4 | That feeling

This TikTok encapsulates the magic of Formula One.

Fernando's racecraft evoked all sorts of reactions with fans jumping out of their seats, on the floor, screaming for joy, or even left speechless.

This fan is all of us: absolutely glued to the screen, lost for words, watching one of this season's greatest on-track battles.

5 | Class is in session

There's a lot of homework involved in being a Formula One driver, so Lance, Fernando, Pedro and Felipe probably felt right at home in the classroom, talking to local school children ahead of the São Paulo Grand Prix, as we made a mark beyond the racetrack with our Global Partner Porto Seguro. The students joined us for an inspiring paddock visit at Interlagos, where they got the chance to have a Q&A with our drivers and tour the garage.

6 | Walking the walk

The pitlane at Interlagos is one of the best in Formula One.

The pit building itself has been extensively upgraded over the last few years but, perched on top of the hill, it hasn't lost that sense of enclosure with the opposite grandstand practically in the garage.

Our pitlane walkabout with our partner XP Inc., watching pitstop practice, was a lot of fun – but a little later, it wasn't the best place to be: The storm on Friday was so fierce, the FIA even let us shut the garage doors.

The last time that happened on a race weekend, we were sheltering from Typhoon Hagibis in Japan.

7 | The BOSS

It's been a wild three weeks on the road, but it’s never a dull moment when we come to town.

Between Austin and Mexico City, Fernando was wowing the crowds at a downtown BOSS store as he stopped in to pick up some new threads.

Where he got the selfie stick, we really don’t know.

8 | In Reserve

In the build-up to the São Paulo Grand Prix, we shared the news that Felipe Drugovich will be continuing in green for 2024, helping the team in the background, taking the wheel in the simulator and on track too.

Felipe did Free Practice One in Monza after his pre-season testing appearance, and he'll be back in the AMR23 for first practice at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

9 | Mexico magic

This one's been doing the rounds in the garage over the last 10 days, and it’s amazing how much it makes everyone hum along.

The Mariachi version of the Formula One theme music is magnificent, and we defy anyone to not tap their foot along with it.

10 | A well-earned break

Like every other level of motorsport, Formula One relies on the dedication of volunteers. All around the world, Formula One runs smoothly because marshals give up their weekends to make sure we get to do our thing as safely as possible. And when they're not doing that, they're often entertaining the crowd…

The next time you're at a circuit, give them a round of applause – or ask how you can get involved.

11 | Not your average careers fair

We're keen to attract the best and brightest graduates to join us on our journey , and so we'll often be seen at university careers fairs. Our recent trip to Loughborough University saw us take an Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team Grand Prix car.
