A fearless approach fusing classic charm with contemporary execution. This is the Aston Martin Valour, a sports car to celebrate 110 years of history.
Less than a week after 110 Aston Martins took to the storied Silverstone Circuit at the British Grand Prix to commemorate Aston Martin's 110th anniversary, Aston Martin has revealed a limited edition model to celebrate a landmark year for the iconic British brand. Valour continues Aston Martin's lineage of front-engined sports cars that offer visceral driving experiences; it is the only V12-powered front-engined sports car available with a manual transmission.
Inspired by the original V8 Vantage and magnificent Vantage-based RHAM/1 'Muncher' Le Mans racer from 1980, Valour throws back to the brawn of Aston Martin's memorable machines including the twin-supercharged V600 Vantage – the world's most powerful production car for a time. Throwback looks combine with flawless Aston Martin execution, echoing the exquisite One-77 supercar, while the driver-centric character connects Valour to the one-off Victor.
Just 110 cars will be produced, making Valour one of the most collectable and sought-after Aston Martins. The specification only adds to its raw appeal. Power comes from a 715PS/753Nm twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12 matched to a bespoke six-speed manual transmission for the very first time, guaranteeing a truly absorbing experience.
Considered and carefully applied engineering mirrors the unbridled approach taken by Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One® Team.
Aston Martin Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll said: "Valour is a celebration of Aston Martin’s passion for driving and extraordinary heritage, but it is also emblematic of today's vibrant and revitalised brand.
"A modern icon that fuses classic character with contemporary execution, Valour captures the essence of excitement and exclusivity that defines this storied automotive marque.
"A showcase for our world-class design, engineering and manufacturing capabilities, Valour is further proof of Aston Martin's position as the driver’s champion and maker of the world's most exciting, exclusive and desirable ultra-luxury high-performance cars."
The body of Valour is made entirely from carbon fibre, with a clamshell body providing ample ventilation for the twin-turbocharged V12 via twin NACA ducts. Aston Martin's iconic grille shape has been evolved to enhance form and function, its central section punctuated by aluminium strakes with large carbon fibre intakes feeding the engine and brakes with cool air. They also frame the classically inspired round LED headlights, unique to Valour and which sit beneath rakish eyebrow-like grille with menacing effect.
Aerodynamic balance is optimised by the front splitter and front fender vents that work with exoblades and a Kamm tail at the rear, plus a prominent diffuser. The rear-end also features clusters of LED light blades to echo the ground-breaking Valkyrie hypercar. A triple-tailpipe exhaust system fabricated from lightweight stainless steel is positioned between the elements of the deep rear diffuser to provide a centrepiece to Valour's extraordinary rear design – and a glorious heavyweight soundtrack.
The Aston Martin Valour
Fearless. Ruthless. Fierce. Aston Martin has unleashed Valour.
This extremely limited edition is here to commemorate 110 years of Aston Martin.
Inside, the two-seater cockpit provides tactility and simplicity. Customers are offered a choice of machined aluminium, titanium, carbon fibre or walnut for the gearknob and an exposed shift mechanism to underline the analogue connection and emotional engagement.
Customers can create their own unique specification for the Valour, with seats, door cards, air vents, centre console and transmission tunnels among the interior choices available.
Simon Newton, Aston Martin’s Director of Vehicle Performance, said: "Inspired by the iconic, muscle cars from our past, we have endowed Valour with an abundance of power and torque, while using modern technology and engineering to make that performance more exploitable and enjoyable.
"A big part of honouring that driver-pleasing character was mating our fabulous V12 engine to a manual transmission. It was a unique part of the brief and the end result is something truly unforgettable; a state-of-the-art driver’s car that thrives on being pushed to its limits and has the true heart and soul of a timeless analogue classic."
Further personalisation comes in the form of a flexible method of livery customisation. Separating Valour’s body into four areas – front, bonnet, sides and rear – clients may choose from an extensive array of hand-painted stripes and graphics designs, which can be applied in any one of 21 paint colours.
The services of Q by Aston Martin can be engaged to create a truly bespoke specification including one-off livery, fully-exposed carbon fibre bodywork with a choice of tint, painted wheels and even Elgin tweet or cashmere fabrics for the seats and headlining.
Technology underpins Valour's brutal power and seductive looks. A mechanical limited-slip differential enhances the sense of direct control between car and driver with electronic traction and stability control systems supporting and reassuring, while three driver modes – Sport, Sport+ and Track – have been tuned to offer precise throttle response and torque management.
Adaptive dampers, dedicated spring and anti-roll bar settings, as well as dedicated camber, castor and toe settings, give Valour a distinct ride and handling quality. A road car first and foremost, Valour shines on great driving roads.
The custom body maximises torsional and lateral stiffness, providing the suspension with the platform to deliver precise body control and increased refinement, while a new steering system gives detailed feel and immediacy.
Stopping power is delivered by carbon ceramic brakes that are housed behind 21" lightweight forged allow 'Honeycomb' wheels, fitted with the latest AML-specific Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tyres for inspired handling in all conditions.
Valour production will be limited to 110 cars globally and is due to commence at Aston Martin's Gaydon Headquarters in Q3 of 2023, with first deliveries scheduled to begin during Q4 2023.
