110 years since Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford officially formed the partnership that led to the production of the first Aston Martin road car, 110 Aston Martins take to Silverstone Circuit ahead of the British Grand Prix and set a new record in the process.
110 Aston Martin cars, celebrating the past, present and future of the iconic British brand set out from our new AMR Technology Campus for a thrilling celebratory lap of Silverstone Circuit to mark the company's 110th anniversary ahead of our home race.
We officially opened the doors to our 400,000 square feet (37,000m2) AMR Technology Campus in the week leading up to the British Grand Prix and it provided a fitting starting point for Friday's unforgettable celebration, hosting the 110 cars and their enthusiast owners and providing the opportunity for fans to explore the unique collection of Aston Martins ahead of the celebratory lap.
Enthusiast owners, who travelled from across the world to take part in the celebration, took to Silverstone's streets to make the short journey from our new home to the storied Silverstone Circuit, taking to the track in front of the British Grand Prix crowds as the spotlight shone on a historic marque and a historic venue. Moreover, the parade set a record for the most Aston Martin road cars on one track at one time.
Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin, said: "We promised that 2023, Aston Martin’s 110th anniversary year, would be a monumental one for the brand. Not only did we set out to introduce our highly-anticipated next-generation of sports cars, but we also made a pledge to create memorable moments for our owners, enthusiasts, and colleagues across the world, to celebrate this significant moment in Aston Martin's history.
"In a season where Aston Martin has risen to become a new force in Formula One, there is no place or time more fitting for our celebrations to take centre stage than here at our home race at Silverstone where we’ll receive huge support this weekend."
110 Aston Martins at the British Grand Prix
110 years. 110 Aston Martins. One very special lap.
The celebration marked not only the 110th anniversary of Aston Martin, but the ultra-luxury high-performance sports cars that have followed, each harnessing cutting-edge British innovation and many going on to achieve racing success across multiple disciplines.
Among the 110 sports cars that spanned 11 decades of Aston Martin were the oldest-surviving Aston Martin, the A3, and the DB3S that was driven by some of the greatest British racing drivers of the 1950s including Sir Stirling Moss.
The captivating line-up also included the stunning DB5, immortalised by James Bond, Aston Martin Valkyrie – the ultimate hypercar, which harnesses Formula One technology – and the fastest SUV in the world, DBX707. The world's first Super Tourer, DB12, which was unveiled by AMF1 Team drivers Lance and Fernando ahead of this year's Monaco Grand Prix, also graced Silverstone Circuit.
The Official Aston Martin Vantage FIA Safety Car and DBX707 Medical Car kept a close eye on proceedings, demonstrating the road and track relevance of Aston Martin's high-performance line-up.
Upon completing the lap of one of the world's greatest racetracks, enthusiast owners were then welcomed back to the state-of-the-art AMR Technology Campus for further celebrations at our new home.
Aston Martin's 110th anniversary celebrations will continue with the unveiling of a highly-exclusive, limited-edition Aston Martin model later this month.
