Aston Martin Aramco collaborates with Silverstone Museum and Aramco to inspire the future of motorsport
Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team and Aramco Europe recently hosted aspiring STEM students and young motorsport enthusiasts at Silverstone Museum as part of #GirlsWill month, enabling students to discover potential career pathways in the world of motorsport.
Aston Martin Aramco and Aramco Europe recently hosted 100 students at Silverstone Museum, as part of its #GirlsWill month.
Silverstone Museum's #GirlsWill initiative provides a platform to industry partners to help inspire girls and women to pursue careers in motorsport.
As part of Aramco Europe's citizenship partnership with Silverstone Museum, Aston Martin Aramco conducted a series of workshops, showcasing the breadth of career opportunities within the world of Formula One. The students, aged between 10-18, toured the museum, based at Silverstone Circuit – the home of the British Grand-Prix and a stone's throw away from the team's new state-of-the-art AMR Technology Campus.
Students heard from Aston Martin Aramco team members on a variety of topics, including brand, engineering, technology and sustainability. Jessica Hawkins, Team Ambassador and Head of F1 Academy for the British team shared her personal journey and valuable advice on pursuing a career as a racing driver.
Aston Martin Aramco, Aramco Europe and Silverstone Museum all share an ambition to foster opportunities and empower the minds of tomorrow. Generation 3 – an initiative launched by the team and Aramco earlier this month – comprises of a global programme that aims to leverage cutting-edge technology, deliver real-world impact and inspire the next generation. The event at Silverstone builds on events to date, including STEM activations in Riyadh, Shanghai, Oviedo, and Houston, and university undergraduate placement programmes.
Jessica Hawkins, Team Ambassador and Head of F1 Academy, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, said:
"Initiatives like today are always rewarding – it feels special to meet young girls who look up to racing drivers like me, who want to pursue a career in motorsport. It's important to highlight the wide range of roles available – it's not just driver, engineer or mechanic – there are a whole host of incredible women who work at Aston Martin Aramco and in F1. By showcasing diverse paths through STEM and motorsport, I hope we can encourage future generations to explore and pursue these careers."
Kate Smithson, Director of Partnerships, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, added:
"A key foundation of our Generation 3 initiative with Aramco is a shared desire to deliver social impact through education and STEM opportunities – the #GirlsWill event at Silverstone Museum is another great showcase. By demonstrating how fulfilling a career in motorsport can be, we hope to inspire future generations to become innovators of the future and help tackle engineering and technology challenges for years to come."
Phil Lawrie, CEO, Silverstone Museum, said:
"This second edition of #GirlsWill has been an even bigger success with over 10 dedicated events during the month of October. We see that there is a growing interest from students to dive deeper into the world of STEM and motorsport and with enthusiastic partners like Aramco and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team that is made possible."
Rania Biltagi, Global Head of Partnership & Sponsorship, Aramco, added:
"With programs like these we aim to bring together partners, empower women in STEM and have a positive community impact. Our commitment with our partners extends beyond business operations, in a shared mission to inspire the minds of tomorrow, drive innovation, and foster future growth."
